Electronic and print media should be effectively used for transfer of agricultural technology to farmers for achieving breakthrough in crop yields. This was stated by Malik Ahmad Ali Aulakh, Minister for Agriculture, Punjab while addressing a certificate distribution ceremony of 17th training workshop on "Information Science and Agricultural Journalism" organised by the Directorate of Agricultural Information, Punjab, Lahore.
In his address, Aulakh said that use of modern media tools for information dissemination of agricultural technologies is the need of hour. He underlined blending of domain knowledge with technology to enhance effectiveness and efficiency for sustainable agriculture in Punjab province. He further said that such workshops and training courses are vital in capacity building and enhancing professional skills besides value addition by improving knowledge base, adding skill sets and change in attitude.
On the occasion, media management experts delivered lectures about communication/PR techniques, audio video production, editing, print and scientific writing. Certificates among the participants were also distributed.
Earlier, Muhammad Rafiq Akhtar, Director Agricultural Information, Punjab welcomed and briefed the chief guest about the objectives of the workshop. Sumera Samad, Additional Secretary (Planning) and Jamshed Daudi, Additional Secretary (Task Force), and officers relating to the agriculture departments of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan, professionals from NGOs and research and development organisations attended the workshop.
