Punjab Finance Minister, Tanvir Ashraf Kaira has said that late Dr Wazeer Agha was a great critic, poet and writer and the void created by his death in Urdu literature cannot be filled. He expressed these views while addressing a reference in the memory of Dr Wazeer Agha, here on Thursday.
Kaira said that Dr Wazeer Agha introduced new trends in Urdu literature and he is second to none in modern poetry. "He ruled Urdu literature and was the founder of the idea of modernism in literature," he added. According to him, services of the late poet are unforgettable.
He was short-listed for noble prize of literature twice but his personality was above such prizes. Urdu literature of 20th century is incomplete without the mention of Dr Wazeer Agha, he remarked. Prominent poet and intellectual Shahzad Ahmad, Federal Secretary Tauqeer Ahmad Faiq, Khursheed Rizvi, Anwar Sadeel and Dr Zikria Butt were also present on the occasion who paid rich tributes to late Dr Wazeer Agha for his literary services.
