Interior Ministry orders closure of anti-Islam websites, SMS

The interior ministry has directed immediate closure of all anti-Islam websites and SMS (short messaging service) and directed concerned authorities to ensure action against the people running these web-sites and disseminating messages, ministry sources said, here on Thursday.
The Cyber-Crime Wing (CCW) of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been asked to check the web-sites and SMS and take appropriate action against people running these, sources revealed to this scribe. They said that a special committee headed by additional secretary interior, and comprising representatives of FIA, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) as its members, has been constituted.
The committee has been directed to present its findings to the Federal Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik within a week. The interior minister took this action after receiving information that many web-sites and SMS containing anti-Islam material are being run in Pakistan. He said that the propaganda against Islam would not be tolerated in Pakistan and people involved in this crime would be taken to task.
