Seminar on 'Raising awareness about Swine Flu' held

Provincial Health Secretary Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that the lack of awareness and not adopting precautionary measures by people are main causes of the death from Swine flu (H1N1) because mostly patients were brought to the hospitals when they were in critical condition.
He expressed these views during a seminar on 'Raising the awareness of Swine Flu (H1N1) virus' held at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on Thursday. On this occasion Pro Vice Chancellor Karachi University, Professor Shahana Urooj Kazmi, EDO Health, Nasir Javaid Shaikh, KMDC Professor Dr Waqar Kazmi, Medical Superintendent Abbasi Hospital Dr Nadeem Rajpoot and other notable professors, experts, doctors, paramedical staff and a large number of students attended the event.
The health secretary said the provincial health department is focusing on awareness drive of Swine flu for the common man. Zaidi appealed the media to play a role in this regard. Earlier, Pro Vice Chancellor Karachi University, Professor Shahana Urooj while speaking to the participants said that Swine flu can spread from one person to another, however, adopting precautionary measures the disease can be avoided.
EDO Health, Nasir Javaid while addressing the seminar said that the Dengue Ward in the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital had been converted into Swine Flu cell on the directives of DCO Karachi Mohammad Hussain Syed. MS Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Dr Nadeem Rajput said that six isolation rooms had been established in the hospital for Swine Flu victims.
