FBR web portal: taxpayers face problems in filing tax returns

15 Jan, 2011

Taxpayers are facing immense difficulties in e-filing of Income Tax returns through the web portal of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). According to Income Tax Bar Association (ITBA), the filing of return was now become impracticable for taxpayers because of their inability in fling CPR number in the tax return.
They are not only receiving error message during editing in annexure B-1 of the return but also could not be able to attach more than one file. The shareholders' individual equity is presently not shown and when they try to file a return, the message 'server too busy' is displayed. The association also blamed the authority concerned for showing indifference toward resolving these issues, saying that whenever the taxpayers call helpline of FBR, they simply say to send a screen shot of income tax return via email. It further said although all these were tiny issues, they were creating a lot of problems in e-filing of income tax returns, which need to be resolved at the earliest to facilitate the taxpayers at optimum level.
