One more day given to Tencho RPP

The Supreme Court on Monday gave one more day to the Northern Power Generation Company Limited Techno Sahiwal to return the advance payment along with mark-up, it took in advance for producing electricity but could not initiated the project so far despite keeping the amount for over two years.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary with Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday was hearing a sou motu case of Rental Power Plants project, taken on a letter of PML-Q leader Faisal Saleh Hayat, alleging huge corruption in the award of RPPs' contract. Techno Company's counsel Raja Anwarul Haq on Monday presented a cheque of Rs 1080 million before the court.
However, Chief Justice ordered him to submit pay order instead of cheque of the amount. Raja told that the court that it will take time to transfer the money in Genco account. The court was informed that Rs 18 billion were given to 9 rental power companies and out of them four RPPs have returned Rs 4 billion. The chief justice said it means that Rs 14 billions were given to five companies.
