The US Consulate-General in Karachi has moved to its new location. The new Consulate includes an American Centre designed to increase interaction between Americans and Pakistanis. The Centre will include educational information and cultural programs.
The new Consulate reflects the enduring relationship between America and Pakistan. It is a commitment by the American people and the government to stand with Pakistan for the long term. US Consul-General William Martin is enthusiastic about the move to the new facility.
"This is a historic and important move. I am looking forward to showing the people of Sindh and Balochistan our new Consulate complex. Our relocation enables us to continue building a strong and mutually beneficial relationship between the American people and Pakistanis," Martin said.
The address of the new Consulate location is: Plot No 3-5, TPX Area, Mai Kolachi Road, Karachi. The Consulate's new telephone number is (92) (21) 3527-5000. Public inquiry e-mail addresses remain unchanged. In 2005, the US government purchased 20 acres plot from Karachi Port Trust, and groundbreaking took place in May 2008. After nearly two years of construction the new facility has been completed.
The new facility also allows the US Consulate General in Karachi to expand non-immigrant visa services for residents of Sindh and Balochistan. "Please continue to monitor our website http://karachi. usconsulate.gov and Facebook page www.facebook.com/ karachi.usconsulate for updates," a press release of the US Consulate-General said. A formal dedication ceremony will take place in February 2011, it added.-PR
