Filtered water connections, health care facilities, setting up of sufism university and a college for girls is the hallmark of the efforts being made by the provincial government to pay homage to the Sufi saint.
Talking to APP on Monday Project Director Bhitshah, Shafique Paracha said that the beautification plan was initiated by the present government and during the period of over two years many accomplishments had been made. Successful rehabilitation of the historic Karar lake, located in the heart of the town adjacent to the mausoleum of famous Sindhi poet Shaikh Ayaz, was one of the development objective, he added. "The lake presents a delightful prospect and after construction of a baradari alongside it, more glory would be added to the view," he said.
When asked about the dilapidated conditions of roads and choking sewerage spreading filth and stench on the streets, Paracha admitted that drainage was a severe problem in the area and any other infrastructure development has to be preceded by addressing the issue. "Under the beautification plan the city has been divided into four parts for laying of new sewerage pipes and four different contractors had been tendered the task to complete the project in six months time starting right after the Urs celebrations," he explained.
