Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday extended the suspension of the notification of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SGNPL) regarding the regular eight hours loadshedding in Kahuta region and sought answer from OGRA January 21. Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan resumed the hearing of a petition filed by four private CNG stations of Kahuta region against eight hours gas loadshedding of CNG stations.
Advocate Muhammad Ilyas counsel for the petitioner argued in the court that gas loadshedding is disastrous for CNG sector and creating inconvenience for the general public. He said that General Manager of Sui Northern Gas had issued notice on December 27 for regular eight hours loadshedding in Kahuta region besides the two days closure of CNG stations.
Counsel for Sui Northern Gas, Bilal Mumtaz submitted a written answer before the court and appraised that the department is not bound to provide Gas to these CNG stations because under the gas load management policy 2005 our top priority is to supply gas to domestic consumers and power sector. After hearing arguments the Court extended the notification for further three days and directed the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to submit their reply by January 21.
