A reference was signed here on Wednesday by Director General, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Muhammad Zafar Maniar of Humair Associates Builder and others on allegation of cheating hundreds of affectees of Sachal Sarmast Town Housing Scheme, Malir Cantt, Karachi for last 30 years.
Humair Associates Director Mohammad Zafar Maniar was arrested by NAB on October 22 last year in a case of cheating public at large. Subsequently, NAB, Sindh had taken cognisance against Humair Associates for cheating public regarding housing scheme titled "Sachal Sarmast Town" situated at Deh Dozan, Tapo Malir, Taluka and District Karachi.
Humair Associates (Pvt) Limited launched this housing scheme in the year 1980. The layout plan of 192 acres of land was approved by Cantonment Board Malir in September 1980 and the revised layout plan of 114.40 acres of land was approved in July 1985. A reference was been signed by NAB Sindh Director General Ali Nawaz Pirzada against Mohammad Zafar Maniar and others on January 18.
There are total 1,657 plots in the scheme, of which no physical possession has been handed over to allottees despite lapse of 30 years. Humair Associates (Pvt) Limited were pressurising the allottees either to pay further amount in respect of their plots or get refund of their amount paid so far.
NAB Chairman Justice (former) Deedar Hussain Shah, on taking over charge of NAB, had issued instructions to all regional NAB offices to expedite cases against builders, developers and co-operative societies to provide relief to aggrieved people. Deputy Chairman Javaid Zia Kazi during his visit to NAB, Sindh reviewed these cases and issued strict directives to bring the cases to a logical end expeditiously and provide relief to the public.
