'Moderates' concerned at law and order in Karachi

22 Jan, 2011

"The situation in Karachi continues to be precarious, with numerous people being killed every day, despite ongoing search operations and additional powers being given to Rangers. This shows that the root cause of violence in the city is not being addressed and such ad hoc solutions can only worsen matters," said Syed Jawaid Iqbal, Chairman Moderates.
In this alarming situation, Jawaid welcomed Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah and Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza's decision to convene a provincial level All Parties Conference on January 25. He urged the three ministers to identify long-term solutions for restoring and sustaining peace in Karachi.-PR
