Firm trend was seen on the currency market on Saturday as the rupee almost held its overnight levels in process of trading, dealers said. The rupee shed two paisa against dollar for buying at 86.89 while it maintained its overnight level for selling at 85.92, they said.
While, the rupee rose by 35 paisa versus euro for buying and selling at Rs 115.55 and Rs 116.05, they said.

According to the moneychangers, because of decrease in dollar's supply, its rate moved up on buying side, while its rate on selling side remained intact. At the end of trading, the dollar was closed at Rs 86.05 and Rs 86.20 as its buying and selling rates, as compared to last day closing of Rs 85.80 and Rs 86.20, respectively, the moneychangers said.
On the other hand, the pound showed strength and recovered some of its earlier loss in the kerb market. The pound was purchased and sold at Rs 136.80 and Rs 137.20, as compared to last closing of Rs 135.50 and Rs 136.00, respectively, they added.
The dollar resumed trading at Rs 85.60 (buying) and Rs 85.80 (selling) against same last rates. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 85.60 (buying) and Rs 85.80 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 136.30 (buying) and Rs 136.70 (selling) against same previous rates. It did not witness any change in the evening session and closed at Rs 136.30 (buying) and Rs 136.70 (selling).
