24 Jan, 2011

The domestic gas consumers of Irfanabad (Tramri Chowk) on Sunday appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of low gas pressure in their area and order the concerned department to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to the residents.
They informed that as the winter season touches its peak, the Sui gas pressure suddenly drops during the early morning and evening. They said that problem of low gas pressure starts from 5.30 am to 11.00 am and in the evening from 6.00 pm to 11.00 pm due to which working people and students are facing a lot of difficulties in timely reaching their offices and schools.
The households are also unable to cook meal while bread-makers use woods in place of Sui gas to run their businesses.
They claimed that the problem started after the establishment of various CNG stations in their locality, which are the main reason for the low gas pressure.
They pointed out that gas pressure remained normal when these CNG stations are shut down twice a week for load management by the SNGPL. They further said that areas, which are at the distance of CNG station did not face shortage of gas or low gas pressure, adding, the problem of low gas pressure continues from November to February every year.
