Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that public service and provision of basic amenities to masses is the agenda of government and all out resources are being utilised for the purpose.
He said that in order to provide modern health facilities to the people of backward areas, mobile health units are being provided while Danish Schools are also being established for extending quality educational facilities. He added that six mobile health units with modern medical equipment have started extending health facilities to the people while 50 more mobile health units are being imported.
The chief minister was presiding over a high level meeting regarding provision of education and health facilities in the rural areas of the province, here Sunday.
Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz said that Punjab government is implementing a comprehensive strategy for generation of job opportunities and accelerating economic activities in the province, while projects for provision of education, health and other basic facilities are being executed expeditiously.
He said that only citizens have the right over national resources, saying every penny of public money is being utilised in a transparent manner on providing basic facilities to the masses. He said that the revolutionary project of Danish schools in backward areas will open up new avenues of progress in these regions and will result in bringing improvement in the education sector and literacy rate.
He claimed that academic standard of Danish schools will be higher than prestigious educational institutions of the country and these schools will play an important role in equipping the poorest students of backward areas with modern knowledge.
The chief minister noted that setting up of Punjab Educational Endowment Fund for students facing financial problems has left a positive impact on the education sector and talented and deserving students of all four provinces as well as AJK are benefiting from it, which has also strengthened national solidarity. He added that provision of IT labs and Internet facility in more than 4,000 schools of the province and encouragement of those showing good performances in examinations have also yielded positive results.
Shahbaz said that in addition to providing modern educational facilities, due attention is also being paid on provision of quality healthcare to the people. For the purpose of extending medical facilities to backward areas at their doorsteps, mobile health units have been imported and under a phased programme, these would be provided in all tehsils.
He further said that mobile health units are providing diagnostic and medical facilities, adding that health department has no concern with these as a company supplying these is also responsible for provision of medical facilities and would be paid for its services by Punjab government.
The chief minister said that infrastructure plays a key role in speedy development and government is utilising huge resources on its development. He added that timely and transparent completion of all development projects is being ensured. Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Member Provincial Assembly, Shehzadi Omarzadi Tiwana and senior officers were present on the occasion.
