Afghan universities, ASC to conduct joint research: agreement signed

Consortium of Universities of Afghanistan and Area Study Centre (ASC), University of Peshawar Tuesday signed four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). According to the agreement, Kabul University, Herat University, Nangarhar University and Shaikh Zayed University Afghanistan and ASC will start joint research on Central Asia. The institutions would also conduct exchange of scholars and students, languages' studies and other programmes.
The over all purpose of the co-operation would be to promote realisation of programmes between the centre and these varsities and co-operate in organising joint seminars, workshops, conferences, symposia, exchange of scientific information, supporting common research and any other activity that can improve the standard of education and linguistics in the countries.
Kabul University and National Centre for Excellence in Physical chemistry also signed MoU for training of M. Phil and Ph.D scholars from Afghanistan in the field of chemistry. The MoUs were signed by director of the centres and vice chancellors of Afghan varsities. The two institutions would also initiate joint research projects on chemical and environmental problems besides doing exchange of professors and scholars and students.
