Pakistan''s foreign exchange reserves at highest ever $17.3 billion level

The country''s total liquid foreign reserves reached at new peak level of $17.3 billion because of high foreign inflows sent by overseas Pakistanis. According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) the country''s total liquid foreign reserves have posted an increase of $18.5 million to $17.3001 billion on week ended on January 22, 2011 from $17.17.2816 billion a week earlier.
The raise has witnessed in the reserves held by SBP and reserves held by SBP increased by $82.1 million to $13.739 billion during the last week as compared to $13.657 billion a week earlier. While, foreign exchange reserves held by banks has witnessed declining trend and down by $63.6 million during the last week. With current decline, overall foreign reserves held by banks decline to $3.56 billion as compared to $3.624 billion a week earlier.
