Government of Sindh has sought Rs 16 billion in funds from Federal government to fortify the embankments of River Indus, Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah said. He was talking to media persons at CM House here on Friday after signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with USAID to initiate infrastructure development in four cities of the province.
"Provincial government had after the floods released one billion rupees to Irrigation Department for repair of the damaged embankments and an additional one billion rupees fund was released recently in this regard," Qaim Ali Shah said. He said the canals have been plugged temporarily for Rabbi crop but there was need to strengthen the embankments on permanent basis.
