Judges and lawyers asked to expeditiously dispose cases

Chief Justice Peshawar High Court (PHC), Ejaz Afzal Khan has urged lawyers and judges of the district to implement National Judicial Policy in letter and spirit and clear pending cases as soon as possible. He was addressing a joint session of bar, bench and heads of executive departments after taking oath from the newly appointed cabinet members of district bar association on Friday, said a press release.
Earlier, the CJ held a meeting with the judges of the district and appreciated their efforts in clearing the backlog of cases in the light of National Judicial Policy. He, in this regard, referred to the efforts of the lawyers' community for restoration of judiciary, democracy and establishing a free and fair legal system in the country. Merely achieving a particular objective is not the end, rather it should be maintained, he stressed adding that role of lawyers in world history has always been unprecedented.
Regarding eradication of corruption from the society, justice Ejaz invited the house to lodge complaints against those involved in corrupt practices. He reiterated that he is committed to eliminate corrupt elements from all departments including those from health, education, revenue and other departments. He appealed to general public to bring corrupt officials into light.
