NRL earns Rs 3.135 billion PAT during half-year

The profit after tax of National Refinery Limited increased to Rs 3.135 billion in the half-year period ended on December 31, 2010 as compared to Rs 1.153 billion earned in the corresponding period in 2009. The board of directors of the company in its meeting held on Thursday in Damascus, declared that the company's earning per share increased to Rs 39.22 in the period under review, against Rs 14.43 in the same period a year back.
According to the financial results sent to Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE), the company's gross sales increased to Rs 83.453 billion in the half year period against Rs 59.785 billion in the same period of last year. Trade discounts, taxes, duties and levies increased to Rs 15.725 billion against Rs 11.669 billion.
The company's cost of products sold increased to Rs 63.109 billion in this period against Rs 45.860 billion in the same period a year back. The company's profit before taxation increased to Rs 4.684 billion in the half-year period in 2010 against Rs 1.832 billion in the same period in 2009. On quarterly basis, the company's profit after tax increased to Rs 1,786.571 million translating earning per share of Rs 22.34 in the quarter ended December 31, 2010 as compared to Rs 476.161 million with per share earning of Rs 5.95 in the same quarter last year.
