A man was killed while a local leader of Jamiat Ulema Pakistan-Noorani (JUP) was injured in separate armed attacks in the metropolis on Monday. According to police, a man was gunned down by unknown armed men in Malir Railway Colony in the limits of Malir city police station.
They said unidentified armed men sprayed bullets on the victim, Akhtar, 30, son of Nisar Hussain when he was sitting outside his home in Malir Railway Colony. They said the victim received two bullets and died on the spot. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico legal formalities. Police said the victim, who was a tailor by profession, had no affiliation with any political or religious party. A case was registered against unknown attackers.
In another incident, a local leader of JUP Noorani group was attacked and injured in Godhra area in the jurisdiction of New Karachi Industrial Area police station. Police said two armed motorcyclists attacked Feroz Kolia, 50, son of Abdul Salam, when he was sitting at his shop in Sector 11-G New Karachi. They said Kolia, who received minor bullet wound on his lower torso, was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment. Police further said that they received 11 spent bullet case from the scene and added that Kolia was attacked for the second time. No case was registered till filing of this report.
