Substandard products won't be tolerated: minister

The sub-standards preparation of goods would not be tolerated in any case. The Federal Minister for Science and Technology Syed Aftab Shah Jilani said this during his visit to Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA), Head Office, Karachi. The Federal Minister lauded the best working of PSQCA.
He said that there must be only one national authority to check quality control, to help consumers. He warned that the law is for every one to abide and no one is above the law. Federal Minister categorically rejects any compromise on quality control issue in the country. He also appreciated media personnel for their heroic role to cover the activities of PSQCA and playing a vital role to spread the awareness among the public to know about quality control culture in Pakistan. He also appreciated the work of PSQCA. The Federal Minister assured that he would never allow sub-standards products in Pakistan.
He directed to the authority to discourage the manufacturing and purchase of substandard goods and PSQCA must also ensure that it issues licences only to those manufacturers who fully comply with its requirements relating to quality and standards.
The Director General of PSQCA Muhammad Junaid Qureshi and Federal Secretary for Science and Technology Irfan Nadeem also gave the Minister a formal briefing. In his exhaustive briefing he touched upon the aspects of PSQCA projects, their achievements and other relevant issues. The Minister showed keen interest in the working and performance of the PSQCA and assured his full support in increasing the effectiveness of the Authority to achieve its assigned mandate.-PR
