Shahbaz, Khosa pledge to work for province's uplift

Punjab Governor, Sardar Latif Khosa and Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif in a meeting here on Monday expressed the resolve to work together with the spirit of mutual understanding for ultimately benefiting public at large. Shahbaz Sharif called on Latif Khosa here at Governor's House.
This was the first official meeting of the provincial chief executive with the governor since the latter took charge as head of the province after the assassination of Salman Taseer. During the meeting, various administrative matters, apart from matters of mutual interest, came under discussion, sources said. Sources also said Khosa invited the chief minister and his cabinet members to a dinner at Governor's House, which was accepted.
Talking to media men after the meeting, Punjab Governor said he would continue to extend co-operation to Punjab government in the larger public interest. "We would work together with the spirit of conciliation for the resolution of public issues," he said adding, "I would remain in contact with the chief minister and his cabinet as per constitution." He said the decision to work together has been taken in the larger interest of the people of the province as well as to strengthen democracy.
Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, on the occasion, told reporters that the federal government is competent to decide whether or not US national Raymond Davis, arrested after an incident in Lahore, enjoys diplomatic immunity. He also said that since investigation into the incident is underway and the matter is sub-judice, he could not talk about it. The court of law will decide the case and justice will be done at all cost, he remarked. Shahbaz further said the matter of US vehicle and driver that killed the third Pakistani, is being taken up by the government.
The CM reiterated that he wants to redress problems of people of the province by working in co-ordination with Governor Punjab. He vowed that joint efforts will be made to resolve problems of people and that governor Punjab will be kept posted about all the matters of the province.
