The Ministry of Commerce (MoC) has also recommended changes in permission for import of arms and ammunition. According to the ministry, presently import of arms and ammunition of non-prohibited bore is allowed on the basis of 'value', which makes room for misuse through incorrect declarations.
The ministry has proposed that this permission should be allowed on the basis of 'quantity' and not on 'value'. The ministry is also of the view that in order to ensure smooth and hassle-free implementation of Trade Policy measures, it has been proposed that changes brought through the policy should not be applicable to such imports where bill of lading and Letter of Credit (LC) has been issued/established prior to the date of amending Trade Policy notification.
