Performance of USCP reviewed

A zonal manager conference and an executive board meeting was held here at USC Head Office presided over by Managing Director of USC Arif Khan. The meeting took an overview of six months performance of Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan, says a press release received here on Wednesday.
All zonal managers of Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan were invited to attend the meeting and afterwards the report was presented before Executive Board. Issues related to annual sale, profit, taxes, number of stores, sale per store, new super markets, mini market and rural stores were discussed in the meeting, and six month's performance was compared in terms of last one year overall performance of the corporation.
Six months sale of the corporation, which stood at Rs 26.449 billion from July to December 2009 increases to Rs 35.27 billion. Similarly, the profit, which stood at Rs 280.60 million touched the figure of Rs 450.21 million in December 2010; and the taxes submitted in government treasure were Rs 2.31 million have now reached Rs 2.61 million. Percentage of shortages has further come down to 1.34pc from 1.72pc. Currently USC has 11982 employees; likewise the sale per employee has increased to 2.9 million from 2.1 million.
Now the numbers of stores have been extended up to 6000 from 5700, and per store sale is Rs 6.2 million now. Mini and super market stands at the future of 111 from only 10 last year. Number of rural stores was 3100 established during July to December 2009, which has now gone up to 3800 which is living example of success of the corporation. Appreciating the performance of USC, the Managing Director extended the sale target of Rs 60 billion to Rs 70 billion and emphasized the need to work hard to meet the challenge.-PR
