There was already a hype regarding Samsung’s upcoming flip phone. Now, as a cherry on top, Samsung announced that the phone will have certain new features, including an adjustable aperture in its camera.
The record of the fastest-possible camera aperture was held by LG V30 up till now with a f/1.6 lens. Samsung recently overthrew LG by creating a 12MP camera for its new phone W2018 with f/1.5 aperture that can switch to f/2.4 for a deeper depth of field when lighting is ideal.
Samsung’s foldable phone might be released next year
According to Engadget, since the Nokia N86 MP, this is the first time that an adjustable aperture is featured in a smartphone’s fixed lens. The camera is similar to those present in the Galaxy S8 series and the wide-angle imager on Galaxy Note 8. The camera has large 1.4um pixels, dual-pixel auto-focus, and optical image stabilization.
The flip phone also comes in with Samsung’s personal digital assistant, Bixby. The phone has two 4.2-inch 1080p Super AMOLED touch displays, a rear fingerprint sensor, iris scanner, 5MP f/1.9 front camera, dual SIM slots, and 2,300mAh battery life. Not only that, W2018 has the latest Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6GB RAM, option of 64GB or 256GB storage with a USB-C port.
The phone, however, will only be for China, probably costing over $1,500, reported Android Central.
