The Lahore High Court (LHC) will resume hearing of petition from February 07, challenging sale of Pakistani embassy's land in Indonesia and Japan on order of former President Pervez Musharraf. Previously, Justice Asad Munir of LHC had declined to hearing petition on January 18 owing to personal reasons.
The LHC had already issued notice to Pakistan ambassadors to Indonesia and Japan, former ambassador to Indonesia Major General Mustafa Anwar Hussain (Retd), former ambassador to Japan Kamran Niaz, former defence attaché to Indonesia Colonel Khalid Mahmood, former 1st secretary in Tokyo embassy Asghar Ali Golo and to chief executive/president Universal Metal Corporation, Japan and director Aisha Steel Mills, Karachi.
Columnist, Dr Qaiser Rashid submitted in his petition that the sale deal was concluded through the company belonging to ambassador's Indonesian wife. The inter-ministerial committee even after the deal gave approval for sale to an Indonesian company Era Victorail for $2.28 million.
