At least seven people including a former worker of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and a woman were killed in separate incidents in different areas of the metropolis on Saturday. According to police, a former activist of MQM was gunned down in Medina Colony in the limits of New Karachi Industrial area police station.
They said the victim, who was identified as Zahid Ali, 35, son of Rehmat Ali, was targeted by unknown assailants when he was standing outside his house situated in New Karachi sector 5-G. They said the deceased, who died on spot, was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities.
In another incident, a young man was killed when he put up resistance to a robbery bid in Malir Kala Board in the limits of Saudabad police station. Police said that unidentified armed men riding a bike opened firing on Mohammad Hussain, 24, s/o Amjad Hussain, when he resisted a robbery bid near General Hospital in Malir 15 area.
He was rushed to Aga Khan Hospital for medical treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. The body was, later, handed over to the heirs after medico legal formalities. No case was registered till filing of the report. A woman was shot dead by her husband in Korangi in the limits of Awami Colony police station.
Police said that Sajida, who was stated to be in her early twenties, was shot dead by her husband Parvez in her father's home in Gulshan-e-Latif, Sector 109 in Korangi Industrial Area. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for medico-legal formalities.
A cable operator was gunned down outside his house at Rahim Dad Goth in the remits of Sarjani police station. The victim Sakhi Mohammad, 29, son of Faqeer Mohammad was targeted by two unknown armed men when he was standing outside his house, resultantly he died on the spot. The body was shifted to ASH for legal formalities.
A bullet riddled body was found in labour quarter in the limits of Quaidabad police station. The victim, who was later identified as Oraj Khan, 57 son of Pao Khan, was in charge of labour union, police said. They said that his body was found in his quarter located at Labor quarter and added that the victim, who hailed from Bunno, committed suicide due to illness. His body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post-mortem.
Similarly another man committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope in his house located at Garden West in the jurisdiction of Soldier Bazaar police station. The victim, Usman, 40, son of Fareed Khan, was the resident of Kashan street Garden west. His body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi and later moved to Edhi Morgue. A security guard was killed by his own rifle in Nagan Chowrangi, Sir Syed police said. They said the victim Ashraf Ali son of Ata Mohammad, who was deployed at private laboratory in Nagan Chowrangi, was a security guard of a private company.
