Vietnam coffee prices near record high

06 Feb, 2011

Indicative prices of robusta coffee in Vietnam rose to 39.5-39.6 million dong ($2,026-$2,031) a tonne on Tuesday although a public holiday has prevented some would-be sellers from offloading beans, traders said. Domestic prices approached the record high of 41 million dong a tonne seen in early March 2008 after London's March robusta coffee ended $56 higher at $2,185 a tonne on Monday. All markets in Vietnam are closed through February 7 to celebrate the lunar new year festival.
