150,000 BISP beneficiaries to get free mobiles in first phase

Around 150,000 Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) beneficiaries would be provided free mobiles for improved delivery system of cash grants through Mobile Phone Banking. A BISP official told APP on Monday that the registered beneficiaries of Musakhel, Layyah, Batgramme and Larkana would get mobile phones in the first phase enabling them to receive cash grant in a convenient and transparent way.
The process of mobile phones distribution among beneficiaries has been initiated in districts of Noudero, Rato Dero, Dokhri and Bakharani of Larkana, the official added. The BISP is striving hard for eradication of poverty from the country making it a welfare state and nation-wide poverty survey is being conducted as a primary target to register more deserving families under the programme. The survey will be completed before June this year rising the number of total beneficiary families up to five millions.
After enrolment, the families will be able to get benefited from monthly cash grant, vocational training, returnable loans under Waseela-e-Haq and life insurance. However, health insurance facilities to registered beneficiaries would be offered soon. Around one million beneficiaries are entitled for Rs 100,000 life insurance each whereas health insurance along with Benazir Health Card will be launched before June this year.
