City Circle area police have arrested 176 accused including 18 proclaimed offenders during its drive against criminals last month and recovered looted items worth rupees 400,000, huge quantity of wine bottles as well as weapons from their possession, a police spokesman said.
He aid that a special campaign was launched in which seven pistols, five rifles, two Kalashnikovs, 59 rounds, 79 wine bottles, 780 gram hashish, 466 gram heroin were also recovered from 176 accused, the spokesman said. He said that during this period, 94 suspects were arrested while 205 pending applications were disposed off. Similarly, 175 cases were referred to concerned courts after completion of investigation process.
Senior Superintendent of Islamabad Police, Tahir Alam Khan had directed SP (City) Haroon Joya to intensify patrolling and vigilance in the area and curb ant-social activities with special focus to apprehend proclaimed offenders.
Joya constituted special teams under the supervision of DSP Ahmed Iqbal and directed Station House Officers of City Circle including Bara Kahu, Secretariat, Kohsar and Aabpara to apprehend criminals involved in crimes of heinous nature and conduct strict patrolling to ensure protection to the lives and property of citizens. Aabpara Police, during this period, also traced a murder and arrested three persons namely Sunail James son of Henry James, Adnan Masih son of Rasheed Masih and Adeel Masih son of Munir Masih, all residents of Iqbal Town. They had murdered one Junaid Hafiz son of Abdul Hafiz during an attempt to snatch his cash and mobile.
SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan has appreciated the performance of City Circle police and directed to curb crime in the area with effective policing. He said that it is the prime responsibility of police to ensure protection to the lives and property of citizens and every possible effort would be made to accomplish this task.
