Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday expressed satisfaction over the progress made by Pakistan and India to resume full spectrum of dialogue. Prime Minister Gilani also appreciated the vision of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh for opening of a new chapter in relations between the two countries, which he added, Pakistan fully reciprocates.
Gilani made the remarks after the presentation of a report by Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir regarding talks with his Indian counterpart on the sidelines of the 33rd Session of Saarc Council of Ministers meeting at Thimpu, Bhutan. Prime Minister Gilani said the talks were in continuation of his meeting with the Indian Prime Minister at Sharm-el-Shaikh, Egypt and also at Thimphu last April, on the sidelines of the Saarc Summit.
He said the round of the Foreign Secretary level talks were fully in conformity with the spirit of talks he held earlier with his Indian counterpart. Later talking to media Prime Minister said, "I am satisfied on this development. It is the result of my negotiations with Dr Manmohan Singh." "This decision is exactly according to the spirit of understanding reached at during my interaction with Dr Manmohan Singh at Thimphu," Gilani said and added "I value this development and pay my compliments and good wishes to Dr Manmohan Singh."
