THE RUPEE: all-round gains

Handsome recovery was seen in the value of the rupee versus dollar and euro on the currency market on Wednesday in process of trading, dealers said. The rupee moved up versus dollar gaining three paisa for buying and selling at 85.60 and 85.65, they said.
Indian rupee was trading at Rs 44.94 versus dollar, Malaysian ringgit available at 3.0400 in relation to dollar and Chinese yuan was at 6.5726 in terms of the greenback.

According to the currency dealers, there was no change in the dollar's demand and supply that helped rupee stability in the open market. The dollar was traded at overnight closing of Rs 85.50 and Rs 85.70 as its buying and selling rates, respectively, the dealers said.
Similarly, the rupee maintained its day earlier position and stayed unchanged in relation to the pound sterling. The pound commenced trading at its Tuesday closing of Rs 138.50 and Rs 139.00 on buying and selling sides, respectively. The pound witnessed marginal change in its value during the day's trading but finally ended at the opening level, the dealers added.
The dollar opened at Rs 85.90 (buying) and Rs 86.20 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 85.90 (buying) and Rs 86.20 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 136.35 (buying) and Rs 136.75 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not witness any change in the evening session and closed at Rs 136.35 (buying) and Rs 136.75 (selling).
