Punjab University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran inaugurated the first ever 'Pre Fabricated Gene Analysis Laboratory' of its kind in Pakistani varsities at the Department of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics, here on Friday. Buffer area-I, II and III have been established in the lab including sample preparation, reagent preparation and PCR amplification rooms, fully equipped with high-tech instruments.
The lab will help carry out latest research in the diagnoses of molecular genetics and various infectious diseases including dengue fever, chickenpox and hepatitis C, pathogenic aspects of bacteria, environmental and biotechnology aspects. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Professor Dr Kamran said that establishment of a modern lab is the one of the best examples of varsity's collaboration with the industries to provide maximum facilities to its teachers and students. Appreciating the efforts of dean faculty of life sciences in this regard, he termed the faculty the most productive faculty of the varsity.
He apprised that the basic work of varsities is to create new knowledge and faculty of life sciences is doing this job. He highlighted that because of the steps taken by this administration, over 100 scholars each year are getting their PhD degrees on the basis of hard work, which is ultimately raising the status of research in the varsity.
Expressing his views, Sure Bio-Diagnostics, Chief Executive Officer, Shaikh Shakeel Ahmad said that he feels immense pleasure to inaugurate the first ever pre fabricated gene analysis laboratory of its kind in any Pakistani university with the collaboration of China. He promised to provide all out research facilities to the teachers and students by utilising the most modern apparatus of the lab.
