The newly appointed French Ambassador to Pakistan Daniel Jouanneau appreciated efforts and hospitality of Pakistan for accommodating Afghan Refugees. The French envoy on Friday called on Minister for State and Frontier Region (SAFRON) Shaukat Ullah and discussed in detail Afghan refugees repatriation agreement December 2012.
Daniel hailed the generosity of Pakistan for hosting refugees for the last three decades. SAFRON Minister Shaukat Ullah said that the repatriation process of Afghan refugees has been resumed but due to the weather condition in Afghanistan. The minister informed that last year over one lac Afghan refugees voluntarily repatriated but hoped that this year the figure of repatriation would be increase.
Shaukat told to the French envoy that United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) providing US $150 per individual to Afghan refugees for their rehabilitation in Afghanistan. The French envoy also suggested that government of Pakistan take on board all the international donors for the Afghan refugees.
Meanwhile, the current situation of Fata was also discussed in the meeting minister informed that in Bajawar Agency the local community have formulated the peace committees to control the extremis and defeat the anti government movements. The minister informed that still Internally Displace Persons (IDPs) living in the Jalozai and Mohmand Agency camps because their homed were damaged during the operation against the terrorist. He said that World Food Organisation would provide food to them till June 2011, in their camps.
