Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza on Friday said that the forthcoming visit of President of Tajikistan to Pakistan will be an important milestone in cementing ties with brotherly country. She said that both the nations were intertwined in bonds of religion, history and culture, therefore, Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Tajikistan.
Talking to the Ambassador of Tajikistan in Pakistan Zubaydullo Zubaydov who called on the Speaker in Parliament House, the Speaker said that regular interaction between the political leadership and people of Pakistan and Tajikistan would build bridges of understanding and friendship between the two nations. She said that huge economic potential exists in both the countries, which needed to be grabbed for mutual benefit. She called for diversification of existing bilateral ties through parliamentary and economic ties and people-to-people contacts.
Fehmida Mirza also called for Tajik support for addressing the challenges confronted by the present democratic government in Pakistan. Zubaydullo Zubaydov Tajik Ambassador agreed with the Speaker and said that his government also desires to have congenial relation with Pakistan. He informed that Government of Tajikistan is looking forward to the visit of President of Tajikistan to Pakistan.
He informed the Speaker that the President of Tajikistan would be accompanied by a delegation comprising of people from diverse fields to explore venues of possible co-operation between both the nations. He extended his government's all-out support to Government of Pakistan to overcome the energy shortages in the country.
