Chicago Board of Trade wheat and soyabean futures were higher on Friday, but corn faltered after the May contract failed to take out a previous contract high at $7.44-1/4, traders said. Wheat was underpinned by weather concerns in the US Plains, while sharply higher crude oil futures supported soya.
CBOT trends as of 10:25 am CST (1625 GMT) on Friday: May wheat up 1-1/2 cents at $8.25 per bushel. May corn down 5-1/4 cents at $7.31-1/2 per bushel. May soyabeans up 2 cents at $14.14-1/4 per bushel.
