Four shot dead in targeted killings

At least four persons including an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) killed in separate targeted killing incidents at various parts of the metropolis here on Wednesday. According to details, the spree of targeted killings engulfed the city when three persons including a worker of MQM were shot dead at Orangi Town and Ranchor Line, which besieged the inhabitants at homes and forced shopkeepers of the said areas to pull down their shutters.
Former unit In charge of MQM was gunned down near his house in Mughal Compound Bhimpura within the limits of Eidgah police station. The victim Mushtaq Ahmed 35 son of Faqeer Ahmed, who was the resident of Mughal Compound Bhimpura, was targeted by four unknown armed men when he was standing outside his home. Resultantly he received eight bullets and succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK).
Police said the victim, who was an active worker of MQM and former unit In charge of unit 29, was an employee of KESC and father of four children. After the said incident, tension engulfed the Ranchore Line, Bhimpura, Junah Market, Risala and other surrounding areas, shops and market were closed due to uncertain condition.
Yet another sympathiser of MQM was shot dead while his brother injured in Qasba Colony in the limits of Pirabad police station. The incident took place at Zahid General store located at Qasba Colony sector 5-A where two armed men reached on motorcycle and opened indiscriminate firing on two brothers namely Mohammad Ali 25 son of Zahid and Sajid 23.
Resultantly, both sustained bullet wounds and shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) where Mohammad Ali died during treatment. Police said the victim, who was the sympathiser of MQM, was the resident of the same area where the incident took place. Later police handed over his body to his heirs. No case was registered till filing of this report.
In another incident, two unknown armed pillion riders opened indiscriminate firing at Tobacco shop, which left the owner of shop Mohammad Yaqoob 42 son of Abdul Aziz and Zia-ur-Rehman 25, son of Alola killed on the spot.
The bodies were shifted to ASH for medico legal formalities and later handed over their heirs. Needless to mention, heavy contingents rangers and police deployed at Orangi Town including Muslimabad, Faqeer Colony, Qasba Colony, Kati Pahari, Bukhari Colony and other areas to avert any untoward condition after the killing of Imran Afridi an activist of Pukhtoon Students Federation (PSF).
