'Punjab government building labour colony'

Punjab Labour and Auqaf Minister Syed Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi has said that the Punjab government is constructing a labour colony consisting of 1296 houses at a cost of Rs 2177 million for workers on Defence Road Lahore and 70 percent of its construction work is completed.
He also said they are implementing various projects for providing modern education to the children of labourers and residential facilities to them. He talking to various delegations of workers here on Wednesday, disclosed an official. Syed Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi said all basic and modern residential facilities will be available to the workers in Defence Labour Colony and Workers Welfare Schools will be set up for the children of workers.
"Free education, including books, stationery, transport and uniform, are also provided to 28,000 children of workers in 46 workers welfare schools of the province. Welfare Board is bearing all educational expenses of the children of workers in those six districts where Workers Welfare Schools does not exist. Second shift is also continuing in seven Workers Welfare Schools," he added.
