Chief Justice Nepal witnesses court proceedings

The Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Nepal Ram Prasad Shrestha Wednesday sat with a two-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and witnessed proceedings of the apex court. Senior most judge of Nepal Justice Tahir Ali Ansari also sat with other three-member bench headed by Justice Javed Iqbal and observed court proceedings - an opportunity to witness proceedings as mark of respect for them.
Senior advocate, Nawaz Kharral informed that this was unique incident in the history of Pakistan that CJ of any country sat with the apex court bench and observed the proceedings. On Tuesday, Chief Justice of Pakistan had welcomed the Nepali CJ and members of his delegation and said that the visit would strengthen cooperation between the judicial organs of the two countries. The Chief Justice of Nepal accompanied by Justice Tahir Ali Ansari, Judge Supreme Court of Nepal, will also deliver lectures at the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA) Islamabad on Thursday (today) and Punjab Judicial Academy Lahore.
On their arrival at the FJA, DG of the Academy and other members of the faculty will receive the visiting Chief Justice and other members of the delegation, who are on visit to Pakistan under Judicial Exchange Prorgam. The visiting Chief Justice will address the Additional District and Sessions Judges and Senior Civil Judges who are undergoing one-week orientation on new laws training course in the Academy.
