Violence erupted in many parts of city on Thursday night, which left six people injured, while unknown armed men set three buses on fire. According to details, enraged protesters took to street against the decision of Supreme Court to nullify the appointment of Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Scores of armed men took to streets and resorted to aerial firing in various PPP-dominated areas including Lyari, Saeedabad, Pehelwan Goth, Malir, Safora Chowk and various other areas. Armed men, who were roaming freely in the city without any fear, opened fire at passenger bus in Maripur area, which left two commuters wounded.
Miscreant set some three vehicles on fire in high security area of the city. Armed men resorted to firing across the city without any fear of apprehension, as law enforcers acted like silent spectators. Eye-witnesses said that some two hundreds protesters having arms and ammunition took part in the protests and forcibly closed shops and markets in various city areas and warned the shopkeepers not to open shops on Friday.
Following violence in the city, Karachi University announced to cancel exams scheduled for Friday. On the other side, killing of a PPP worker in Garden area fuelled to the fire and escalated tension in the surrounding areas of Garden. Tariq Lashkari, 52, son of Haider Lashkari, resident of Garden was sitting out side his house when unidentified armed men riding motorcycles, opened fire on him and managed to flee. He died on the spot. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for legal formalities and later handed over the family. No case was reported till filling of this story.
