Society's development: SU faculty members urged to play role

The Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh, Professor Dr Nazir A. Mughal has urged upon the faculty members to play their role in the society's development and said that the role of the varsity in the modern world is inter-linked with the community. He was addressing the faculty members of Social Sciences Department, University of Sindh at the Senate Hall, here on Thursday.
The Vice Chancellor briefed the faculty members about the summer classes, to be introduced as recommended by the deans committee, adding that major courses will be taught during the classes. He informed that the varsity is also thinking over to end conducting of special examinations. He also apprised the faculty about the cut in annual budget and protests by employees and other problems and invited the members to come forward to support the varsity in this regard.
He added that the economics department should help developing proposal for generating resources for the varsity. Professor Dr Mughal noted that there is huge unemployment in the province and there is a need to concentrate on vocational education and advised the teachers to develop plan in this regard and help youth in getting job opportunities.
He stressed that every faculty should teach 12 credit hours and advised senior members to take classes of fresh students because fresh students need full attention and guidance of the faculty. Newly appointed pro Vice Chancellor Sindh University Dr Parveen Shah, heads of various teaching departments and faculty members of social sciences department, registrar and others attended the meeting.
