AVCC releases Interpol wanted industrialist

Following the strong resentment shown by the industrialists, the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) on Thursday released an Interpol wanted industrialist Afroz Alam Lari within just 12 hours.
According to details, the industrialists, who staged protest at Garden Police Head Quarter, chanted slogans against the law enforcement agency and threatened to shut down all industrial units at SITE, Korangi industrial area, FB area Industrial area, New Karachi Industrial Area, if the authorities did not release Afroz Alam Lari.
Keeping this in view, the AVCC released an Interpol wanted industrialist Afroz Alam Lari within 12 hours. When contacted Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Farooq Awan of AVCC to discuss the issue, he was not available on phone.
Needless to mention, the AVCC had arrested Afroz Alam Lari wanted by the Interpol for offering bogus checks worth 45 million dirhams in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The arrest of Afroz Alam Lari came after more than a year, when the Interpol issued red warrants after he managed to escape from Dubai despite the fact that he was asked not to leave the Dubai.
In 2009, he along with his aide Faisal Saya, developed a business partnership with some local businessmen in Dubai. The AVCC team arrested the suspect from an area near Northern Bypass. He and his aide are blamed to have offered 45 million dirhams through bogus checks. They, however, left the country by the time it came to the notice of the local authorities.
