A visit to a hospital shows the agony and pain of patients, as they remain unattended for hours due to unavailability of doctors and paramedics. Senior doctors did not turn up because of strike call of government, here on Friday and many young doctors attended the patients in OPD.
A Sindhi family from Larkana was waiting for dialysis of their daughter-in-law in the hospital. Habiba, 17, was a kidney failure patient. One of her kidneys had failed and she had to go for dialysis every second or third day otherwise her second kidney could fail as well.
Abdul Hai, father-in-law and Mithan mother-in-law of Habiba are parents of 10 children, five sons and five daughters. The eldest son Abdul Khaliq, 18, is husband of Habiba but he didn't come with Habiba to Karachi for her dialysis. Abdul Hai, father-in-law explained, "My son is a young guy and he has no sense of doing anything properly so I didn't bring him with me".
Later, doctors told them to arrange a kidney for Habiba or her second kidney might fail as well. The miserable family was sitting and waiting for hours or their turn. Another patients, Ahmed, 20, received injuries in a road accident. His mother Shamim was very angry due to unavailability of doctors and paramedics.
