Anti-terrorism court acquits five accused

An anti terrorism court has acquitted five accused including a woman involved in a case of kidnapping for ransom. Shahdara police had registered a case against Naeema Bibi, Awais, Yasin, Liaqat, and others for kidnapping a six-year-old boy Jawad. The accused obtained Rs 600,000 from boy's family, as ransom. Police also submitted challan against the accused and they filed acquittal applications before the court.
Advocate Ali Zia Bajwa representing the accused persons argued that the police arrested the accused on merely statements of another arrested accused. He said police failed to produce any cogent evidence against the accused. The court after hearing the counsel acquitted the accused persons.
