PFMA demands doubling of wheat quota

Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has demanded of the government for increasing wheat procurement quota from 0.4 million to 0.8 million tons for coming season to fulfil the need of the province.
The demand was made in a meeting of the association here with Chairman Haji Sartaj Ali Khan in the chair. Those who attended were former chairman Mohammad Naeem Butt, divisional president Peshawar, Mohammad Sadiq Malik Iftikhar Awan, Musarat Shah and members of the executive body.
The meeting informed that the mills had borne huge losses due to the supply of substandard wheat in last season and called for restrain from the repetition of the mistake in upcoming season.
Haji Sartaj Ali Khan said that the government target of 0.4 million tons wheat isn't sufficient to meet the demand of the province. He asked the department to devised strategy to purchase the required commodity. The meeting expressed dissatisfaction over the efforts of the provincial Minister, Shuja Khan and Department of Food.-PR
