KU scientist nominated for Sitara-e-Imtiaz

Professor Dr Khalid M Khan senior scientist in the Karachi University's International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), has been nominated for Sitara-e- Imtiaz here on Saturday. Dr Khan is among the most prominent researchers of Pakistan.
He was awarded Justice Qadeeruddin Gold Medal in 2003 and Pakistan Academy of Sciences Gold Medal in 2004. The President of Pakistan has awarded Tamgha-i-Imtiaz in recognition of his research work in the field of bio-organic and medicinal chemistry in the year 2004. He is working in HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry since 1987.
He is currently working as a professor in HEJ Research Institute. The major emphasis of his work is on the synthesis of inhibitors of clinically important enzymes. He currently identified a number of new lead compounds, which are active against leishmaniasis (Kala- Azar) and peptic ulcer.
