Five injured in hand-grenade attack

At least five persons were injured in hand grenade attack at a real estate agency in the limits of Napier police station on Saturday. According to the details, at around 2:45pm, two unidentified pillion riders, who intended to target Habib Baloch, a leader of PPP, threw hand grenade at real estate agency of his sibling Mujahid where Baloch used to visit daily, leaving five persons including Mujahid, Pir Muhammad, Umar Rafiq, Arif and Salman injured.
Habib Baloch, who was also the member of Sindh Council, remained unhurt in attack, as he was not present in the shop. Talking to this scribe, SP Qamar Raza Jasqani said that some five persons were injured in hand grenade attack carried out by two unidentified pillion riders at a real estate agency located at Old Kumar Wara in the limits of Napier police station.
He said that bomb disposal squad (BDS), rescue teams and law enforcement agencies rushed to the spot after getting information and added that evidences were collected by the investigation teams. He said the police besides preparing sketches of the culprits with the help of eye-witnesses, are collecting information where such types of hand grenades are easily available to avert such incidents in future. He said the victim Pir Muhammad was shifted to private hospital while rest of them was transported to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK).
After the said incident, tension prevailed in the said areas where miscreants resorted to aerial firing and forced the shopkeepers to pull down their shutters.
Meanwhile, the officials of BDS claimed that the hand grenade (RGS-65) carrying 250grams of explosive material, was Russian made bomb and added that this type of bombs are lethal in 200 yards range hence the victim Pir Muhammad, who came in the said range, received severe injuries in this attack.
