Chairman Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PRGMEA) Ejaz Khokhar has urged the Chairman FBR to visit Sialkot to address such issues of Small & Medium Enterprises with change in zero-rating regime. He said the small and medium size textile industry would hit hard, as it would have no answer for the items rarely imported, including zips and buttons etc.
Also, he said, more than 50 percent material of value-added sector is imported by the commercial importers while paying levies at the import stage and hand it over to the wholesaler (sole agent) after receiving all charges. In case the wholesaler is not registered and charges further from the industry it would result into double taxation. Meanwhile, he expressed the hope that the stockists would be checked for their black marketing with excluding domestic sales from zero-rating regime.
