Altaf denounces killing of party worker

21 Mar, 2011

The founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement, Altaf Hussain has expressed profound sense of grief and sorrow over the tragic martyrdom of Ghulam Hussain Jafri, a worker of Unit 167 of MQM Nazimabad Gulbahar Sector.
He sympathised with the grief-stricken family members and asked them to bear the loss with courage and fortitude. He assured the family of the martyred worker that he and all the workers of MQM stand by them in this hour of grief. He prayed Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace. He also prayed for the good health and early recovery of another worker Shafi who was injured during the firing incident.
Meanwhile, the Co-ordination Committee of MQM has sharply criticised killing of Jafri and termed it a continuation of the plot to destroy peace in the city. It said that killing of Ghulam Hussain Jafri on the heels of killing of two MQM supporters Saleem Qureshi and Talim Qureshi in Unit 19 of MQM Old Layari Sector is 'open terrorism'. The committee demanded President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister, Yousuf Raza Gillani, Governor Sindh, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan and Federal Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik to arrest those involved in the killing of MQM workers and supporters.
Ghulam Hussain Jafri and Shafi were sitting in a park when terrorists riding motorbike approached and fired at them with a close range. 24 years old Ghulam Hussain Jafri died on the spot whereas Shafi was injured and shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical assistance. On hearing the sad news, Haq Parast elected representatives, members of Karachi Tanzimi Committee and other office-bearers and workers reached the hospital. They were overcome by grief and wept bitterly. -PR
