21 Mar, 2011

Former Foreign Minister, Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that entire nation is frustrated and tense over the unexpected release of Raymond Davis and this can be easily observed from the countrywide protests against the verdict of court on Friday. Although SC has taken the suo motu notice of this situation but I can foresee that the chain of protests would not stop.
He expressed these views while talking to mediamen at the airport here on Sunday. Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that this point is being raised in the NA and people also want explanation over the Raymond issue. The need is that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani should unveil the facts about the release of Raymond Davis that how and why it all happened. "As far as I know, the law of 'Deyat' implements only when the accused confess about his crime and the relatives of deceased forgive the accused with happy heart but no such situation could be observed here", he said. He further added that if the family of deceased has forgiven him then the facts should be unveiled to media. Shah Mehmood said that Raymond issue had left many questions unanswered and government should now take the nation into confidence. Responding a question, Qureshi said that rumours could further create disorder in the country. Government should take its allied parties including ANP, MQM and others into confidence in the joint session of parliament on March 22.
